DAVID ANTHONY GARCIA
A resident of San Antonio for 45 years, I have earned a BFA and a teaching certification from The University of Texas at San Antonio. I have been a full-time art teacher at Lackland Elementary School for the last 24 years as well as a contract artist for the McNay and the San Antonio Museum of Art. My start teaching art began at the City of San Antonio, Southwest School of Art, and then I spent two years as the visual art director at Say Si.
Some of my accomplishments as an artist are my works being published in three major textbooks including: “Criticizing Art: Understanding the Contemporary #3” – McGraw Hill, “Chicano Art for our Millennium” “Triumph of our Communities” – Bilingual Press, as well as the Cow Parade San Antonio and the cover of the Art Collection of the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center.
My artwork has been featured throughout San Antonio and collected by ASU, UTSA, and various private collectors. I was honored to be a featured artist at the McNay Museum of Art for their 60th-anniversary gala.
